Fossils from the late Pleistocene Epoch have been found in the Saltville Valley since the late 1700’s and are still being found during paleo-archeological
excavations held each summer in the Saltville Valley. Included on display from these excavations are bones and fossils of the mastodon, woolly mammoth, musk ox, black bear, horse, small mammals, birds, and fish.
The Ice Age Exhibit also features full-sized casts of a mastodon, woolly mammoth skull, and a giant beaver. Visit the Museum soon to learn more about the unique ice age history of the Saltville Valley.
